Is this year over yet?

I don't know about you, but I am ready for the holidays and the old year to be over with. I LOVE Christmas and all the pretty snowmen, but I am done with it for this year! I don't know if it's the retail talking or the "Mommy, can I have this, or can I have that" that's getting me. WOW! Are we there yet? We had a great Christmas this year. The girlies and I went to Wyoming to spend time with the "Grandmas" and then Jason met us up there on Christmas Eve. We were going to open presents on Christmas day, but when Kaylee saw her Daddy, she just couldn't wait. And in case you are wondering...Santa found Brenda's house just fine. The decorations on the sliding glass door pointed him in the right direction! I am truly blessed with all that I have and with all of my family. I hope your holidays were just as good as mine!

Work work work

This time of year is always very busy for me and my family. Working retail you get to put in alot of stressful hours and not very much appreciation. One thing that gets me through this is my girls. This is the first year they fully participated in putting up the tree. We all had a blast...and the tree looks pretty cute with all the little ornaments bunched up on the bottom of the tree! They each have a few of their own ornaments and spent hours trying to figure out the best place to put them. I walked into the living room the other day and found Lizzy pointing to each of hers saying "mine...mine...mine" and when she would come to Kaylee's ornaments she would shake her head. So it went a little like this: "Mine...shake head...mine...mine...shake head...mine." I think that's her favorite word and says it better than any other word so far. I think that comes from her sister! Kaylee is very concerned about how Santa Clause is going to find us this year since we have moved from Wyoming. She has decided that we need to decorate our sliding glass door so that he knows what apartment is ours. Very creative she is! I miss my family more this year than ever. I feel like I am in another country. It's still strange to me that most the people I see during the day I will probably never see again...just because there are so many around me. I am used to the small 'small town way' still and keep looking for people I know. I don't know if I will ever get used to that. Anyway, I have realized that I need to appreciate my family more and the time I do get to spend with them means more to me this year than ever. I hope your Holidays are great and remember to tell the ones you love how much they mean to you!

Utah snow

I learned a very valuable lesson yesterday. That snow doesn't always fall sideways! I witnessed this myself. And it doesn't have to hurt when it snows on you. So many years I lived in Rock Springs that I have forgotten that winter doesn't have to be a bad thing! I am also reminded of my Reo Rux this time of year. He loved the snow. He was always like a little kid when it started to snow. I miss him.

The Feast

If any of you have ever eaten Brenda's (mother-in-law) cooking, then you have a very good idea of how our Thanksgiving meal went. She cooked a 20 lb. turkey, 2 hams, chicken and home made noodles, and all the fixings! Everyone went home with a HUGE goody bag of left overs...enough to have another meal! Her ham gravy was even better than last years...too bad Bryan wasn't there! He loves that stuff! We had a few new faces this year, but that seems to be the way of life in our family. It was hard without my Reo Rux being with us and putting gravy on his salad, but we certainly weren't short on love at our table! The new addition was Lou...sort of quiet that fellow is, but it was good to get to know him a little bit better. Of course football was an added noise factor this year with Jason's team (Lions) playing WHILE we were eating, but I am pretty used to that by now! They lost, by the way! All is well and very quiet at our house since my mom has the girlies this weekend...God help her and may they take long naps!

I have a long memory and I don't forget

Tonight my best friend, Kyle, called me from her jail cell. She wears "whites" so she is able to use the phone on a regular basis. Last week we had a contact visit since she is going to be transferred to Lusk soon. I am very surprised that she hadn't been sent there this week. Anyways, we were reminiscing about the old times at our apartment. I had thought she had forgotten most of that stuff because of her drug abuse and the affects it has taken on her. Her teeth already are falling out and her weight is just now coming back. She told me in her sarcastic voice that she has to make herself sound tough (even though she's a teddy bear at heart) that her memory is good...her memory is long...she hasn't forgotten anything about us. That made my heart sing. I know my Kyle is slowly making her way back to me. She won't always be the strung out meth head that I had gotten used to seeing on the street. Anyway, most of you know her and love her as I do. Some day she will be reading this. Hopefully it will be soon.

What is this stuff?

Today is my first blog. Big E wanted me to visit her blog and comment...did you know you can't comment if you don't HAVE a blog? I think it's a trick! She tricked me. Damn family. But, what do you do when they whine? I might get to like this stuff, though. Am I talking to myself here? Hello?
