My Weekend

I had quite the traveling weekend. Friday night after work, the girls and I packed up the car and went to The Rock. We stayed the night with "The Crazy Lady" as I lovingly call my mother-in-law. Saturday morning really early I left town with My Kyle's family (the girlies stayed with Crazy Lady) and went all the way across the state to Lusk. It was the first time in 4 months that I got to see Kyle. She has been transfered to the women's prison there. Considering where she lives for now, she looked really good. She was in great spirits and we all had a good visit. She is clean for the first time in a year but the Meth is showing it's signs. Her hair is growing back but her teeth are falling out. She is going to NA and AA meetings by choice now and attends church every week. She says she is still mad at God, but she is working out her issues. I am so proud of her. I never in a million years thought she would make it this far. She has lost a lot of the anger that she has held on to for so long and is opening up to new ways of thinking. I love her as much as I could love a sister if I had one. My heart was full when we had to leave (we got 4 whole hours instead of the 15 minutes I was used to in The Rock) but I still cried when we had to leave her there. I know that when she gets out she will have a different way of life, but will always struggle with the addiction. The progress she has made this far is a good sign that she will make the right choices when she is faced with them. I love her and miss her so much, but she's where she needs to be for the moment, if only to learn how not to get back to this point again. I did learn some "prison" tricks, though. I now know how to make hairspray out of butter scotch candy and pizza with Ramen noodles. Very important key things on the "inside," so if any of you ever end up there, give me a jingle! I can hook you up!

well, lolly, i'm so glad you got to go see her. meth is a wicked wicked drug, we have no idea the control it has over a person...and the devastation. i'm sure knowing you are there for her makes all the difference in the world, too.

I am glad you got to see Kyle, Laura! Friends and family are so important when we go through hard times and good times! I am so glad I am in this family!

Its so sad to see what meth can do to a wonderful person. That drug takes over their life and body! I have seen so many girls here do it because they get skinny! then they get nasty looking!
I am so glad you got to see her! That is what true friends do! stick by eachother through it all!!
